Missal Romanum MCMLXIIA Deeper and Richer experience of The Mass of The AgesMRLXII Description |
||
MRLXII is a system that animates the text of the 1962 missal version of the Catholic Mass promulgated by Pope Pius V in 1570 during the Council of Trent. In booklet form, the missal displays the Latin text on the odd page and the English on the even. The MRLXII structure closely mimics that of the booklet, without some of its graphic art. The program is an automated phrase-by-phrase translation of the Latin text of the Mass into English. The program operates in two modes, auto-translation and manual-translation. In auto-translation, after the user selects a location in the missal from the table of contents, the program begins by highlighting a Latin phrase at the left and its English counter-phrase at the right, pausing for a time, the duration of which is set by a sliding speed control. It then moves to the next phrase. In manual-translation, the user selects one of two controls, either Step or Select. Step allows the user to highlight the next phrase pair, simply by clicking anywhere in the text area. Select allows the user to click on any phrase, anywhere in the missal, Latin or English, to highlight that phrase pair. | ||
